Love it already

You may have noticed that the phrase "love it already" has been mentioned a few times on my site already, and it probably will be used at the end of every blog post from here on out. I've coined this as my motto for the next 5 months of my life, hoping it will be etched in my brain enough to last through the following months as well.

When I was on the plane to New Zealand, I started the journaling process very easily. I've always been a journalist in that sense; I've kept diaries and journals since kindergarten. I've graduated from writing about elementary boy crushes and friendships to my meaningful life lessons and religious views. This time, I wrote about how terribly long the plane ride was, my excitement for the adventure, and yet how anxious I was at the same time. At the end of the entry I wrote, "See you soon, NZ. Love you already."

I vowed to love this place before I got here so I could always remember why I came in the first place.

A couple days passed and I had settled into my new apartment, eventually leaving me to really think about my feelings over this big move. I was an entire 18 hours ahead of my family in the US, so I was experiencing days that would still be considered the future in their minds. I had time traveled on my way to this new place, giving me the opportunity to appreciate time for what it is and what meaning it can hold. My today is some people's tomorrow, and I need to recognize the beauty behind that.

I got a text from one of my friends telling me how much he missed me. He explained that he had been struggling with some internal issues, as he had been for a while, and I immediately told him what I had learned so far.

Loving something before you've met it can be hard.

You don't know what to expect, there may be flaws, and you may not like it at all after you get to know it better.

But what if someone who had already experienced it told you it was perfect?

That you'd love it in spite of its inevitable flaws?

Would you trust them?

Somewhere in the world, someone has experienced life hours ahead of you.

Tomorrow is here for some people.

It's almost here for you.

I can ensure you that tomorrow is beautiful

because today is beautiful for me.

Do you trust me?

Love tomorrow before it comes.

Love it already.
